DAR BENNANI

An ancient house in the heart of Fez Medina

Everyone should visit Fez once in a lifetime. Some of us come back again and again: it has fascinated writers for a century.

Dar Bennani is the perfect base from which to explore the ancient city. Staying in comfort in a beautifully restored historic courtyard house right in the centre of the medina, you'll be shoulder to shoulder with the markets and merchants that make Fez so special. The roof garden gives stunning views over the city while the courtyard's plunge pool offers cool relief from the midday sun. Our four bedrooms can comfortably accommodate nine people.  The house provides a grand setting for a large group, but  also has an intimate atmosphere that can be enjoyed by a couple.

Why visit Fez?

Fez was founded in the 9th Century by the invading Moslems from Arabia and has grown by stages since. The ancient city – the Medina – is a World Heritage Site, protected by the establishment in 1912 of the Ville Nouvelle. Within most of the Medina motor vehicles are forbidden; transport is by mule, donkey and handcart. You can walk for hours untroubled by the sound of an engine.

Getting to Dar Bennani

There are currently regular direct flights to Fez from London and Paris throughout the year, and Fez airport is about 45 minutes from Dar Bennani. A taxi will take you to the walls of the medina, where our house manager Abdelilah will arrange for a porter to meet you and bring your bags the 10-minute walk to the house.
